2009 INITIATIVES

Action Sudbury has donated over $250,000.00 & countless man hours to help reduce drinking & driving in the Sudbury district over the past 25 years.

Action Sudbury is proud to announce the 'Rollande Mousseau Citizen Recognition Award' to a person working and/or volunteering to eliminate the tragedies caused by impaired driving in the City of Greater Sudbury. Please take the time to nominate someone who you believe is deserving of such an award.

ACTION SUDBURY is proud to be involved with the donation of three (3) alcohol screening devices to the Greater City Of Sudbury Police Service. The money raised by Amandah & her volunteers at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Hanmer & by another Amanda who put on a Yuk Yuk's comedy show at Laurentian University went towards part of the cost of the devices. The names & pictures of Jazmine Houle, Caitlin Jelley & Steven Philippe were on the three (3) devices & cases. Thanks.

ACTION SUDBURY also donated two (2) alcohol screening devices to the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. These devices will be used in the Sudbury district & will be a great help in assisting the officers in being prepared to apprehend impaired drivers.

ACTION SUDBURY is pleased to donate $3,500.00 to the Sudbury S.T.O.P. program once again this year. This group of volunteers help make the snowmobile trails safer by assisting the police in sobriety spot checks.

ACTION SUDBURY is happy to announce that Confederation, College Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur have joined O.S.A.I.D. We at Action Sudbury are please to be able to assist the new groups financially & more importantly educationally in their work to bring the message about the dangers of impaired driving to the young adults of our community.

Action Sudbury set up a booth at the Chamber of Commerce event held at the Older Adult Centre at the YMCA. Ron gave a history of our group to the attendees. Cheque presentation from Scotiabank here.

Action Sudbury was proud to participate in the Yuk Yuk's show at Laurentian University put on by Amanda that raised $3,800.00. Thanks. Pictures.

Action Sudbury will be donating $3,500.00 to the Snowmobile Trail Officer Patrol to help offset costs incurred while volunteering to patrol the snowmobile trails. To date we have donated $15,820.00 to S.T.O.P. & another $700.00 to the Young Snowmobilers Ride.

Action Sudbury provided pizza for the 2009 Chain Of Life.

Action Sudbury donated $500.00 towards the cost of Lively "S" Days. This event teaches students the safe operation of a snowmobile along with a anti drinking & driving message.

Action Sudbury donated $500.00 towards the cost of " Ride With Respect" in Espanola. This event teaches students the safe operation of a snowmobile along with a anti drinking & driving message.

Action Sudbury once again gave $1,500.00 to help Sudbury's own world famous Evolutionary Band.

Action Sudbury gave $1,600.00 in funding for the Sudbury chapter of the Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving to help with the costs of sending 8 students to the OSAID conference.
